This is a Victorian Cabinet Card - Portrait of Sir John Hare, English Actor and Theatre Manager  CBC14

 

Sir John Hare, born John Joseph Fairs, was known for his carefully observed characterizations and comedic flair, particularly in roles portraying older men. He managed several London theatres, including the Court Theatre, St James's Theatre, and the Garrick Theatre. He was knighted in 1907 for his contributions to theatre.

It is highly probable that this photograph was taken between 1870 and 1886

Elliott & Fry initially operated their sole premises at 55 Baker Street from their founding in 1863 until 1886
